Lake Bled

Lake Bled
»A picture postcard town with a fairytale castle, magnificent blue lake and stunning mountain surroundings.«

In the northwestern corner of Slovenia, the lakeside resort of Bled nestles amidst dense pine forrests, surrounded by the dramatic snow caped Julian Alps. Lake Bled, famous as one of the lovliest in Europe, features the tiny wooded island crowned by an idyllic baroque church amidst its glittering blue waters. The area is ideal for those in search of tranquility, with a lovely lakeside promenade. Horse drawn carriages are ready to take you to the medieveal Bled castle that has been rising 100 m above the lake since 1004. A visit by »pletna«, lake Bled version of a gondola across to the island is a must. Although Lake Bled is a quiet area it does hold some interesting annual events such as Bled Night – usually end of July – when thousands of lights are let into the water crowned by fantastic fireworks.
